Dividends
Definition
Dividends are a share of a company's profits that are distributed among shareholders in proportion to their share of securities.
Example
PhosAgro shareholders approved the payment of dividends of 780 rubles per share. The payment includes final dividends for 2021 and interim dividends for the first half of 2022.
More detailed
The amount of dividend payments for each share is prescribed in the dividend policy and approved at the general meeting of shareholders. Dividends can be paid once a year, every six months or every quarter - it depends on the dividend policy of a particular company.
Sometimes a company that has always paid dividends may decide not to pay a portion of its profits to shareholders. Instead, the company directs these funds to the development of the company. The decision to cancel dividends will be considered legal if it is supported by the board of directors and the general meeting of shareholders.
